This Bronx program has helped tens of thousands of cash assistance recipients who are referred through the New York City Department of Human Resources to improve their literacy and language skills and gain entry into the workplace.
BEGIN provides Adult Basic Education classes, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) training, and GED preparation classes that utilize English language arts, social studies, science, and mathematics to promote literacy through reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills.
