Special Needs Services
Family Advocacy, Information, and Referral (FAIR) helps parents deal with the challenges of raising and caring for a child with special needs throughout the child’s life. In order to help parents make the best choices for their child and to navigate the complex system of programs and entitlements, the F·E·G·S FAIR program works with families to develop the tools they need ensure that their child is safe, secure, and receives proper care and support.
F·E·G·S FAIR offers a variety of counseling and referral services, including:
- Individual counseling with trained professionals
- Caring, sensitive guidance in locating resources and programs
- Support for parents of pre-school and school-age children in meetings with school districts and other service providers
- Transition planning for parents of teenagers
- Guidance for parents of adult children
- Parent workshops on topics ranging from advocating for special needs services, helping children develop social skills, planning for community life, and networking
- Inclusive teen leadership training and community service projects
