Residential Services

For more than 20 years, F·E·G·S has been a leader in creating recovery-based housing, from service-enriched community residences and apartments to independent living arrangements with ongoing supports. The goal is to provide a supportive environment that encourages individuals to develop the personal skills necessary to achieve greater independence as they learn to live with confidence in the larger community.

F·E·G·S Behavioral Health Residential Services provide housing alternatives to individuals who are recovering from mental illness, are homeless, MICA (mental illness/chemical abuse), and/or deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf/blind, as well as people living with HIV/AIDS. Eligibility: adolescents with serious emotional disorders and/or alcohol and substance abuse; adults with a mental illness. Specialized services are available for individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf/blind, and who also have a psychiatric disability.

F·E·G·S Behavioral Health Residential facilities serve almost 1,000 individuals in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Long Island. Programs are funded through such city, state, and federal sources as the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the New York State Office of Mental Health, and HUD.
